5 week birthday!

Today is the girls' FIVE week birthday! Woohoo! Things are progressing...

Kamryn is now feeding on a bottle 4 times a day (and via gavage tube the other 4 times a day)...she's halfway to her goal! They expect to bump her to 5 bottle feedings tomorrow. Next week is going to be a busy week for her...assuming all continues to go well with her bottle feedings, they will start working on getting her ready to come home. There are a lot of steps to pass, she has to finish all 8 bottles within 20 minutes, she'll be moved to an open bassinett and make sure she can maintain her temperature, she'll have a sleep study done to make sure she doesn't have any problems, then they will check how she does sitting up in a car seat for 30 minutes...they think she might be able to come home next weekend assuming she passes all those gates!! I'm so very excited!

Kayla is doing well except the poor thing keeps having to have IV's moved around on her...her poor little veins just get so weak from all the fluids and every day they are having to move her IV...she's running out of places to poke now so they are really trying to get the PICC line in soon so they can take out the other IVs. They are planning to try and do the PICC line tomorrow morning, they have to wait 48 hours for the infection bloodwork to come back. The good news is they ended up not having to do the spinal tap because they think she's doing better. Whew! She's probably got a good three weeks longer in the hospital ahead of her, assuming no more setbacks.

Kamryn is now up to 50ml of milk per feeding and weighs 5lbs, 12.8 oz. Kayla is up to 15ml of milk per feeding and weighs 4 lbs, 11.6 oz!

Hello,

I found your blog through the fertility community, and I will keep you and your sweet baby girls in my prayers. You and your husband have really been through so much to have these babies and have been real troopers while waiting for them to come home.

How wonderful that it will not be much longer before you have them all to yourself!! You all are in my prayers!!
