Well the girls had their six month checkup yesterday (even though they are almost seven months old) and got their immunization shots. Boy, I hate those...well, I'm sure they hate them more, but I really hate the night after when they are running fevers and not feeling so great. Poor babies. Anywho, they are doing really well and the big news is we get to finally start Kayla on solids!!! We are hoping this will help her reflux issues, but we'll have to be careful of what we give her so it doesn't make it worse! Kamryn's been eating solids for a while now, so it's a relief to finally get Kayla going. Here are their stats:
Kayla: 11 lbs, 1 oz and 23 3/4 inches
Kamryn: 15 lbs, 2 oz and 24 1/4 inches
STILL four lbs apart, but Kayla is only 1/2 inch shorter than Kam, so she must be putting all her intake into her bone growth and not fat!

Pink Eye and Teething...
So yesterday was a rough day...for mommy. It turns out that I've got bacterial pink eye in both eyes, which is no fun. I went to the optometrist and she promptly made me get out of my contacts and made me wear glasses for a week...only problem is, I don't own any glasses...I hate glasses...I'd rather chew glass than wear glasses. So I had to call Kiko to come rescue me at the Dr's office and take me around to find a cheap pair of glasses that could be made right away. Thankfully, his ex-wife works at UH Optometry school and she hooked me up! Of course, today I'm supposed to get an award at work, photos and all...so I guess I'll be having a new "look" for those photos!! Now I have to be extra careful not to spread the dreaded pink stuff around to the girls!! Not an easy task!!
So now I have coke bottles on my face (because I think I'm probably close to being legally blind) and the girls are looking at me like I am an alien...which was actually kind of funny. Anyway, I can't see periphally, and I ended up jamming my foot into the bed post, which is now causing it's own kind of lovely pain. It hasn't been a good 24 hours for mommy....
On to the teething...both girls are continuing their teething process and it's so much fun in the middle of the night. Kamryn is handling it better than Kayla I think. I was up all night with Kay-Kay as she did not want to be put down...at all...all night. You can see and feel the first tooth starting to come in for Kamryn, which would make you think she would be the fussier of the two...but not so. LOL. Anyway...this is going to be a long process I can tell...I'm stocking up on earplugs and No-doze if anybody has any!!

Updates!
Sorry I haven't been on in a while...with the numerous shuttle launch attempts and two very active babies, I don't have much time to do anything lately!! Anyway, sorry no new pictures...for some reason the latest ones haven't been that great, so we need to work on that more!!
Kayla went to the Dr today for a weight check...she is now officially in the double digits!! She weighs 10 lbs, 11 oz!!! Woohoo!! Not bad for a 6 month old, eh?? LOL.
Kamryn continues to do well and she's really teething!! Poor baby is just miserable. She does have what feels like two little bulbs on her bottom row and we felt a little one starting on her top. Kayla is also starting to teethe...this should be FUN!!!
Oh and an update on my friend Brian from below. He still has not regained his memory which is very sad. But he's taking it well and relearning everything and meeting all of these "new" people who are really his friends. He did get in to see a neurologist and got an MRI and some other tests run...I haven't heard the results of those yet though. Please continue to keep him in your prayers!

Prayers for Brian...
A little off topic, but I know my girls have some pretty good connections with the BIG Guy upstairs, so figured I'd post here to keep that powerful prayer chain going.
On the 4th of July, Kiko and I hosted a little pool party/barbecue with some friends. Nothing fancy, just some grilling and swimming. Well, one of our friends, who we call BIG BRIAN, because he's like 7' tall, woke up from a nap in the pool and had completely lost his memory. I don't mean waking up in a fog, drank a few too many type of memory loss...I mean, TOTAL loss of memory. He was the last one to leave the house that night and nobody even noticed he was out of it because he was so quiet and they just thought he had a few too many drinks in the sun. It turns out, he didn't know who he was, where he was, what day it was, who we were and why he was at our house! When I realized what was going on, I called some co-workers of his that are also friends of ours, to try and get him home and in touch with his family. Brian in the meantime, just left the house while I was on the phone, because he had no idea where he was and figured out by looking at his driver's license his name and put his address into his GPS. Our friends came quickly trying to get to him, but he didn't recognize them either and took off!! He finally made it to his house, but didn't recognize his parents either. They took him to the hospital and all the tests came back normal. It's like he woke up from that nap and everything Brian knew was gone. It's been almost a week now and he still has no memory and they are trying to find him help, but the hospitals won't take him because technically there is nothing physically wrong with him. The wait to see specialists is over 3 weeks and Brian does not have insurance. We are hoping to arrange a benefit for him to help raise money for what I'm sure will be some hefty bills so stay tuned, we will need your help on this one!!
If anybody in the Houston area knows anybody that can help with this type of case, we would love to hear from you. It's a bizaar chain of events that has happened and it breaks my heart to know that the BIG B we all love is now a new BIG B with no memory of any of us. He doesn't know that he has a two year old son and is very frustrated not knowing anything about his past. I can imagine it must be extremely scary too. Please keep him in your prayers that he will somehow regain his memory and get the help that he needs!! Thank you!

SIX MONTHS!!!
I can't believe that the girls are six months old today. Time is flying by and I'm amazed every day how much they are growing and maturing. Soon they will be asking to go on a date...not looking forward to that. LOL. I have some new pics but having camera problems, so hopefully I can post soon!
On a frustrating note, we had made an offer for a new Live-In Nanny to come stay with us as I felt I just needed the extra hands at home. We found who we thought was a GREAT person with a ton of experience and she agreed to come stay with us. Well, I was trying to run a background check on her and she kept stalling and not really responsive on that front. Then I tried checking her references she sent me...none of them answered, answering machines (half with no person recording the greeting) at all of them. None of them called back. Then, I added her to my Facebook account and this is where it got interesting...the email address for one of her "references" was also the EXACT same email linked to her facebook account...hmmm. So I asked her about it, she didn't have a good explanation. Then I asked about the background check status...she said she had submitted the info to the agency...I called the agency, no info from her. So I asked her about that and she suddenly disappeared. Deleted me from her facebook account, deleted her profile on the nanny website we had found her through...poof, gone! Amazing. Fortunately, we hadn't flown her down here yet and I'm glad I insisted on getting the background check as she apparantely had something she wanted to hide!! I told the nanny sight that they should prevent her from joining again too. Oh well...so I'm back to the hunt again. I've found a nice girl in Pearland who may join our ever expanding crew of nannies/babysitters. We're meeting her and her parents on Friday for an interview so we'll see how that goes! Fingers crossed!! I like her already in that her parents want to meet US for a change...I'm all for that!

FIREANTS!!
Ok...mommy almost had a coronary yesterday. The nanny called while I was at work and said there were fireants ALL over the girls nursery!! This was only 30 minutes after I got to work so they had to have been coming in during the night and we didn't notice. I was a mess trying to get home, imagining the worst that could have happened if they had gotten on little Kayla (who sleeps in a bouncy chair on the floor of that room) or on her while the night nanny changed her (as they were all over the changing table and rocking chair). After frantically calling the exterminator (Terminix rocks by the way...he was there within 20 minutes of me calling!!!) and killing the evil things, I was finally able to relax. We have no idea how they got in, but my poor day nanny got bit several times and amazingly Kayla didn't have a bite on her, despite having several ants get on her. Thank you Lord! My exterminator even came back last night after his shift to make sure that they were still gone and not trying to come in a different way, I love that man.
Anyway, had to throw away a HUGE thing of diapers as they were all inside the bag. Kiko came rushing home from work also to help me clean up their room and wash stuff. It also happened to be our wedding anniversary so it was kind of nice spending the day with him, even though it started off pretty rough.
I'm still pretty shook up from the whole situation, thinking of what could have happened to Kayla makes me start to cry. Sadly, this is the 2nd time I've had fireants get in the house in 3 years and I'm not sure how that is happening or how to prevent it from happening again! Anybody has any suggestions, we'd love to hear them!
