Been a while!

Sorry that I haven't posted in a while! The holiday's had us hopping and we really just haven't had much to report lately...which is a good thing I suppose!

Quick update on Kiko's mom...she is home from the hospital and is recuperating nicely. We saw her this weekend and she looked like she was still sore, but all in all very blessed to still be with us! We thank God for that every day!

As for our little munchkins, I can't believe that in less than two weeks they will be a YEAR OLD!!! It's just going too fast already! We're in the process of planning their birthday bash so stay tuned for pictures from that! We don't really have any good pictures from Christmas because we were pretty low key this year. In fact, we didn't even put up a tree!! This was primarily for safety reasons because Kayla is crawling and pulling up on everything...just one less thing to worry about. I figured since they didn't really know what was going on anyway, we'd save up our energies for next year!

Here's a cute pic of daddy and the girls! I hope everyone had a great holiday and we'll post NEXT YEAR!!

Prayers for Mom Grace and 11 months old!!

I wanted to ask for everyone's prayers for my Mother-in-law, Mom Grace. Mom Grace was in a very serious car accident Tuesday and to say it's a MIRACLE she is still alive and with us is an understatement. She is still recovering in the hospital ICU and had quite a few seizures last night from the brain trauma so she is not completely out of the woods just yet, but we continue to pray that she will quickly recover and be back to playing with her granddaughters in no time!

Yesterday was a big day for the girls!! They turned 11 months old! It's hard to believe that in one month, they will be a year! I get emotional just thinking about it. The girls had their monthly visit from ECI and they were very impressed with Kayla crawling around and pulling up on everything! I think Kamryn is getting jealous of Kayla zooming off everywhere and has really stepped up her attempts at crawling. (I can see the sibling rivalry already starting!!). Kamryn is now comfortable getting up on all fours (where before she would scream) and she's rocking and trying to move...so we think she'll be crawling here in the next week or two!
Latest stats on the girls: Kamryn weighs exactly 20 lbs!!! Kayla is 16 lbs, 11 oz. She slowed down on her eating for a little bit with teething/reflux problems and well, Kam has no problems in the eating department. LOL.

I will try to post a video of Kayla zooming around soon!

Christening, Crawling and Pictures and More Pictures!

It has been a busy, busy couple of weeks for us here at the Novilla household! So much to post about so hopefully I don't lose you (or bore you) with all the mundane goings on in our lives!!

First, the Girls were Christened on 11-22-09 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. It was so wonderful to be surrounded by so many friends and family for such a special occasion! The girls were beautiful in their HOMEMADE gowns, made especially for them by our dear friend Melanee and her mom!! Melanee and I met through the internet amazing enough, when we were both trying to get pregnant. We love to joke that I got her pregnant! She lives in Utah and couldn't make it down for the Christening but she was there in spirit! Long story short, Melanee, her husband Chris and Melanee's mom are like a new, extended family for us and we have shared many significant events over the last year together...most importantly was the birth of her twin daughters exactly one month before my twin daughters. We love you all so much and thank you so much for making the girls their gowns for us and sending them all the way from Utah! They were perfect!! It was also wonderful to see so many family members and for our girls to finally meet many of them! Here are some (ok a lot) of the pictures taken from that day!!

Ok, guess who's crawling!?!?!? KAYLA!!! I can't believe this little munchkin is doing so well after the rough start she had!! She is really starting to move now and we can't just simply plop her down and wander around anymore! She is also pulling herself up to standing and transitioning from crawling to sitting back upright!! I think she will try walking as soon as her little feet figure out how to stay flat and not curve in! Kamryn isn't picking up on the crawling thing just yet, she'd rather just sit there and have us bring her stuff...but she's quickly figuring out that Kayla can disappear with her favorite toy so she's not liking that too much! She's starting to try and get down on her knees and rock so it won't be long before she's on her way too!!

And believe it or not, the girls are STILL TEETHING!! I know that this is a long process...but they both already have six teeth broken through and we just saw about four more starting to bulge!! They are going to have full mouths of teeth before they are a year old!!

Oh and here are some more pictures from their Christmas shoot with Jaycee! I just love these! If you need a great photographer in Houston, give her a call! http://www.picsbyjaycee.com

10 months old...

It's been a while since I posted last and the girls are now 10 months old!! Time keeps flying by! As you can see from the top picture, we had their Christmas photos taken and they were so cute!! I'll post more for all to see soon! In the meantime, you can check out my friend Jaycee's website for them and if you need a really great photographer in the Houston area, tell her I sent you! http://www.picsbyjaycee.com

On to the important stuff...THE GIRLS!!! Both of them continue to just grow and amaze us!! They are both starting to "talk" and love to shout out "DADA" as loud as they can! I try to teach them "MAMA" and they just smile and shout "DADA"! Which I suppose could be disheartening, but it really comes in handy for those poopy diaper changes...I just say "she wants DADA"! Hee hee...

The teething continues as does the excessive drool!! Both girls have cut the top 4 teeth now and I think a couple more bottom ones are starting to work their way in...they will have FULL MOUTHS of teeth by 1 year old if they keep this up! I miss the toothless grins though!

Kamryn continues to grow and grow! She is now fully caught up to her age/size and then some! She weighs nearly 19 lbs and is wearing 12 month old clothes!! Good grief! Kayla is weighing in at almost 16 lbs so she has closed the weight difference gap down by 1 lb!! Woohoo! The funny thing is, she is wearing 6 month clothes! It's getting harder to find matching outfits for 12 month and 6 month!! Poor Kayla is destined for Kamryn's hand-me-downs so we're trying to fatten her up still...lol.

The ear tubes seem to have worked great for Kayla, she is such a happier baby! She has learned how to scream now though...so not so fun for us to listen too! Both girls are sleeping through the night too (can I hear a hallelujah?)!! This weekend is the Girls' Christenings and we can't wait to see all of the family and friends who will be joining us for this wonderful event! I think we are expecting over 50 people!!! Oy!! We'll post pics of that as soon as we can!! Check back soon!!

First Halloween!

We had the best FIRST Halloween with the girls! They were just too cute in their costumes! I know cows aren't the most original outfit...but I just loved them in these!! Enjoy the slideshow!

Here are some more pics of the girls just having some fun!

The girls have been doing GREAT!!! They slept ALL night last night!! Didn't hear a peep! It was so nice to get several hours of sleep without interruption! Of course, I kept waking up and checking on them because I was worried that they weren't waking me up! Sigh...I guess that will get better with time!

Rough weekend!

We had a rough weekend with Kamryn! Poor thing caught some kind of bug and had a really high fever all weekend and last night. We thought we were going to have to take her to the ER as her temp kept spiking up over 103 degrees!! Tylenol didn't seem to do much to help her, but thankfully the Motrin kept things down. Last night, she had a huge spike up to 103.7 and we ended up giving her the Motrin a little early to help her and shortly after she started sweating profusely (which she hadn't been able to do all weekend)...then she finally slept and by this morning her temp was only about 99 and she seemed much happier. Hopefully it's all behind her now! Unfortunately, Kayla is starting to get very fussy, which is how Kamryn started so I'm worried she may now come down with whatever Kamryn had. So we'll just keep watching. All I know is I haven't slept much the last three nights being up with Kamryn and I don't know how I'll do it if Kayla gets sick. I guess I'll find some strength in there somewhere!! Going to take Kamryn to the Dr today as a precaution to make sure she doesn't have an infection going on and need an antibiotic, but if it's viral, will just have to let it run its course!

PE Tubes

Sorry for the long gap between posts, it's been rather hectic around the homestead for the last few weeks. Today was a big day...Kayla had PE tubes (ear tubes) put in this morning. She is doing great so far, she is such a trooper! After all that she has been through in the last almost nine months, she amazes me with her resiliance! She went back with the nurses and didn't even let out a peep...Mommy on the other hand cried as soon as she left. Not 15 minutes later the Dr came out and got me. She was really fussy then, but calmed down about 20 minutes later. He was able to drain out all the fluid in both ears and said she did in fact have an infection still in there so she's on drops for a few days. We hope and pray that this is the last surgery this little girl ever has to go through. It won't get rid of her reflux, but I'm hoping that it will give her some relief to the pain and the constant fevers and she will be able to sleep soundly now and give her body a chance to grow! She is still so tiny and still fits in most 3 month clothes while Kamryn is now wearing 9 month old clothes!! Poor Kayla is destined to get Kamryn's hand-me-downs for the time being!!

Kamryn continues to do well, she's eating and sleeping great! She pretty much sleeps through the night with an occasional wakeup here and there, but she's a very easy baby so I can't complain! Our night nanny is scheduled to become our day nanny next week so I'm hoping the PE tubes work wonders and both girls can finally get a good nights rest!!
