Don't go to Studio One with infants!!!

Ok, so I wanted to finally get my girls out and have their first "professional" photographs taken so we went to the Studio One in our mall. Needless to say it was a HORRIBLE experience. Not only was the photographer "NEW" and didn't know what she was doing...the manager was even worse with her attitude and lack of care about what was going on. Anyway...my only recommendation to all my new mommy's out there is to avoid this place like the PLAGUE! I now have an appointment for a photographer to come to OUR house and I think this will make things much easier on both us and the girls!! I can't wait to get those pictures done, so stay tuned!!

Not much to report today (which is good news)! I'm going to take Kayla (and maybe Kamryn just for fun) to go get their weight checked tomorrow. My unofficial guess is that Kayla is over 9 lbs now (or very close to it) and Kamryn has got to be close to 13 lbs...she feels like a load of bricks!! I was very excited this weekend when I went to put on one of Kayla's outfits and she barely fit into it!! Woohoo!

Growing and growing and growing...

I know that I'm probably the only mother out there who wants their babies to get fat. LOL. Kamryn is achieving this goal...I was shocked at how chunky her thighs are getting right now...and I love it. LOL. Kayla is also starting to get a little meat on her bones now which is so wonderful. We used to be able to see her ribs and now it's getting a little harder to see them. Her color is also improving too. Kayla has finally hit the 8lb mark!! I was so happy to hear that. Kamryn is slowing down on her growth, I think she's waiting for Kayla. She's 11.5 lbs and I think it's all in her cheeks and thighs. Will post more pictures soon (when I get a free hand)!

Sorry it's been so long!!

I just realized that I hadn't updated our blog in several days and I know there are several of you K&K fans out there dying to know what is going on! Well, the girls are wiping mommy and daddy out! We even have help and we're exhausted! The girls turned FOUR MONTHS OLD this past weekend and I couldn't believe that much time has already passed! Especially for little Kayla who has only been home a couple of weeks. The girls are doing FANTASTIC and I got to enjoy my first Mother's Day ever with the most beautiful girls in the world (yes, I'm biased)!

Kamryn had a check up today with the pulmonologist and he has decided that she no longer needs to be on the Apnea monitor!! Woohoo!! Now of course, that's a different story for mommy who takes comfort in knowing that the alarm will go off if she does stop breathing so for my own sanity, I'm going to keep it on at night for another month until I think she is all clear. She hasn't gained a lot of weight the last couple of weeks and her eating has slowed down, so I plan to talk to the Dr about it tomorrow when she goes in for her four month immunizations. She now weighs 11 lbs, 7 oz and is 23 inches long!!!

Kayla is doing great and I've decided to postpone her surgery yet again. Yes, I'm crazy, but I just can't put her through a surgery unless I am convinced to the bone that she needs it. She has been steadily gaining weight since she has been home and she is eating much better than she did a few weeks ago. She still has some really bad episodes of reflux which are very difficult for her and us to deal with, but as long as she is still gaining weight and still eating, I can handle the periods of screaming and discomfort if it will avoid her having to have surgery. As of Friday, she weighed 7 lbs, 8 oz and was 20 1/4 inches long! She'll get another weight check tomorrow, so I'm hoping she continues to thrive!

Surgery scheduled...

Well, we have rescheduled Kayla's GJ tube surgery to next Thursday (May 14). It was originally scheduled for tomorrow, but I wasn't very comfortable with the surgeon that was planning to do it. I'm sure he would have done fine, but I really liked the original surgeon who was scheduled to do the procedure a few weeks ago. So I called my preferred surgeon today and asked her to do the surgery but in order for her to do it, we had to move it out a week. It's going to be a really hard week for Kayla waiting, but my hope is that this will give her more time to "grow" out of the reflux some more and hopefully not need the surgery at all. She is so uncomfortable that it breaks my heart and it is very tiring holding her all the time to keep her calm so she doesn't reflux.

I wanted to take a minute to thank my TWO nannies for all of their help with our girls. Denise, who is our "day nanny" has the toughest job by far...I don't know how she does it. I get exhausted after an hour! She is so wonderful with the girls and has so much patience! She truly is a GOD SEND!! Brandi takes the night shift and helps take care of Kayla during the night so Kiko and I can get a few hours of sleep each night. Poor Brandi works during the day as a nanny for another family (with 5 children!!!!) and then she works all night for us...this is only temporary though as we're in the process of looking for a live-in nanny/au pair to help us for a few months. I wouldn't be sane if it weren't for both of these women and I really appreciate EVERYTHING they do to help our family out!!

Just some more pics :)

Here are some pictures of our little angels :)...ok...can you tell who is who? And can you tell who might be the "alpha" female?? LOL! And yes, they are IDENTICAL twins, but they look so different with Kayla being so much smaller than Kamryn (poor baby). We are heading towards having her get the surgery on Thursday so we can get her growing!! Unless I chicken out again...It's so hard making this decision...ugh!!
